Craniosacral therapy or cranial sacral therapy (CST), is a gentle, non-invasive form of bodywork. During a CST session, the therapist uses subtle movements and light touch to affect the pressure and circulation of cerebrospinal fluid (the fluid around the brain and spinal cord), enhancing the body’s own healing capabilities. The practitioner may focus on specific areas of the body, such as the head, spine, and pelvis, to identify areas of tension or restriction to enhance the body’s self-regulating mechanisms, reduce pain, promote the body’s natural healing process and improve overall function.
Craniosacral therapy is used to address a wide range of conditions, including:
- Chronic pain
- Headaches and migraines
- Fibromyalgia
- Stress and tension-related disorders
- Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction
- Orthopedic problems
Valued for its holistic approach, many individuals seek CST for general relaxation and wellness. The gentle nature of the therapy makes it suitable for a wide variety of patients, including those with complex conditions.
